Sarah Sweeney, M.Ed.
Sarah is a Master’s level counselor who specializes in working with children, teens, and young adults. She also co-facilitates our Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Her specialty areas include working with youth, behavioral disorders, trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders. Sarah’s clinical orientation is eclectic and includes psychodynamic, person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy approaches. She focuses on resolving emotional and behavioral difficulties and disturbances to enable people to lead happier and more fulfilling lives.
Sarah earned her Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in Special Education, with a concentration in Sign Language Interpreting. She earned her Master’s degree in School Counseling from Kent State University. Prior to working at the Behavioral Wellness Group, she worked at Crossroads as a Case Manager in the intensive home based program as well as a Day Treatment Child Youth Specialist. Sarah has also worked in the residential setting, working as a Teacher/Counselor for Pressley Ridge School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
