Marta Vigerstad, LSW
Marta Vigerstad is a Licensed Social Worker who is supervised by Karen Conkey, LPCC-S. Marta has two areas of specialization: adults dealing with prior trauma which is currently impacting their relationships, and families of preschool and school age children in areas related to trauma, attachment, ADHD, and behavioral and mood concerns.
When working with adults, Marta uses a dynamic experiential approach with a focus on mindfulness and embodiment as a way to facilitate the natural healing process. She is informed by cognitive behavioral therapies, accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, and internal family systems therapy.
When working with families, Marta uses an attachment-focused approach and strives to help parents learn how to be their child’s therapist after treatment is over.
Marta earned her Master’s in Social Work in 2018 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Post-graduation, Marta completed a nine-month certificate program in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Marta has been practicing mindfulness since the age of 8 and became a certified meditation instructor in 2018. She has been teaching meditation and mindfulness to individuals and groups weekly since 2014.
Ms. Vigerstad is taking new clients of all ages.
"People are self-healing geniuses."
