Exercise is something we all should do but may have a hard time starting, finding the time in our busy schedules, or sticking with a routine. Hopefully, these bene-fits motivate you to start a happier and healthier new YOU!

Being active has been shown to have many health benefits, both physically and mentally. It may even help you live longer.

  • Mentally-exercise reduces the body's adrenaline and cortisol, which reduces stress levels.
  • It boosts endorphins that elevate mood and is a natural painkiller.
  • Improves mood and decreases depression and anxiety.
  • Physical exercise helps with relaxation and improves sleep quality.
  • Helps with brain and memory function to lessen dementia and strokes by in-creasing the blood and oxygen flow to the brain.
  • Boosting immunity and increasing energy levels.
  • Prevention of chronic diseases by lowering blood pressure, promoting weight loss, helps with maintaining a healthy weight and reducing cholesterol and heart disease.
  • Strengthens bones and muscle to prevent osteoporosis.
  • Removes toxins from the skin.

Physical exercise can also be done at home at no cost. If it is more convenient, one is more likely to do it and stick with it. It can be done in simple activities such as walking, jogging, hiking, yoga, swimming, dancing, or working out to YouTube videos. Also, it saves time and money by not having to get ready to drive to the gym that has an expensive membership. One has more freedom and does not have to work around hours of operation. And lastly, there is no judgment, no dis-tractions and one will have the privacy of working out alone or with friends and family.

By implementing exercise in our everyday living, we can see physical and mental benefits. In these difficult times, your wellbeing can benefit from exercise no mat-ter the intensity of the physical activity. It is time to get into the swing of spring!
